Let’s face it, unless you work for a cleaning company, no one likes to clean. Whether you are cleaning at home, work or for family, here are seven signs indicating that you may need to step up your sanitization game.
Outside of vacuuming your carpets, which should be done at least three times a week, it is important to have regularly scheduled carpet cleaning. The purpose of this is to reduce the number of dust mites, dust, dirt and dander in your home. All of these can irritate allergies.
In addition to your carpets, dust mites live on our mattresses too. Vacuuming mattresses on a regular basis will also reduce the number of dust mites, dust, dirt and dander from your bed. Purchasing a mattress cover that can be removed and laundered in hot water will also do the job.
Walls seem to get overlooked in regular daily, weekly or evening monthly cleaning regiments. If you consider, though, how many times a day they are touched, kicked, swiped against, germs can harbor on them as any household or workspace surface. Giving them a good wipe down at least once a month will help to reduce germs and bacteria.
Need I say more? But I will! Proper ventilation and regular cleaning will inhibit the growth of mold in the shower, on ceilings and around sinks. It is also important to regularly check your toilet, sink and shower for leaks, deteriorating caulk or areas that are holding water and could be potential for unknown mold.
Like bathrooms, kitchens can harbor mold and bacteria. It is likely that shy of doing dishes and wiping down counters, the kitchen is another neglected space. Food can inadvertently get splattered, dropped and dripped into spaces between appliances and cabinets and walls. This is prime feeding ground for pests and bacteria.
Sick office syndrome is real! The recycling of air, within an office space, provides the opportunity to recycle allergens, bacteria and mold. If one person is sick, it affects the air, their workspace, the lunch room, the bathroom and anything they touch. Where does it go? It goes for a ride through the air system and then can spread to multiple floors and workers.
Outside or inside air is a carrier of pollen, mold, bacteria, allergens, there is no escaping it. However, when it is closed up in our home or office and recycled, it has the potential to multiply and build, not providing the ability to go out with the old and in with the new! Purifying the air twice a year, but not less than once a year helps to eliminate the airborne irritants.
